Prayer

We were created for intimacy with God. It’s not enough to know about him, we want to actually know him (Phil. 3:8, 10). We long to experience and connect with him. We long for intimacy with God.

Intimacy with God is the most important priority of an apprentice of Jesus. Nicky Gumble writes that “prayer is the most important activity of our lives.” Thats because no other practice is focused on intimacy with God the way that prayer is. Prayer is, at it’s most basic form, about intimacy with God. It’s about relationship and connection. And we long for that.

But for many reasons, we find that prayer is often absent, too burdensome, boring, or flat out disappointing. But what if prayer doesn’t have to be that way? What if you could have a rich and vibrant relationship with God in prayer?

Over the next four weeks we want to invite you on a journey into intimacy with God. Each week is designed to take you deeper in your relationship with God. The goal for this section in the way of life isn’t to acquire an ability, hone a power, or develop eloquent language. The goal is to go deeper in your relationship with God. We hope, for instance, that you have a daily time of prayer as a result of going through this practice. But the prayer time itself isn’t the goal, but the means to the goal. We want you to carve out time in your daily rhythm to be with God so that you can go deeper into intimacy with him.

Welcome to the prayer practice!
