About Us
Port Kells Church is a community of apprentices of Jesus joining God in his renewal of all things. We gather on Sundays around Scripture, Sacrament, and the Spirit. We also gather mid-week around tables in community, forming our lives around the way of Jesus and joining God’s work of renewal in our neighbourhoods and city.
PORT KELLS CHURCH
We are part of the historic Christian faith handed down from generation to generation. We stand in the tradition of the Church, receiving the faith passed down through Jesus, the Apostles, and the Scriptures. The Apostles’ Creed is one of the Church’s oldest and most enduring summaries of Christian belief.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary;
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into the dead;
the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From there he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit;
the holy catholic* Church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
* The term Catholic simply means “of the whole” or “universal.” By this, the creed confesses belief in the whole Church in all times and places.
LEADERSHIP
Dan Gillis
Dan is the Lead Pastor of Port Kells Church. He met his wife, Laurelle, while serving together in ministry. They have two kids, Grayson and Eden. Dan loves helping people encounter Jesus through Scripture, community, and discipleship. In his spare time, he enjoys drinking overpriced coffee, fishing, and playing Hot Wheels with his son.
Luke Nielsen
Luke is the Associate Pastor of Port Kells Church. He and his wife, Jaimie, have 3 kids — Violet, Ezra, and Ivy. Along with his passion for worship, Luke is known for shredding guitar, writing music, and frequenting the best local ramen shops. Not only is he a pastor, but he is also an avid disc golfer and the proud owner of a vintage eagle tee.
