Week 01: Sharing your story
If you’re nervous or overwhelmed by the idea of sharing your faith with others, don’t sweat! You’re in good company. Most people feel this way. We think we have to know a lot about the Bible and have answers to hard questions. But anyone can share their story regardless of their level of Biblical knowledge.
You’ve also probably seen someone else do evangelism in a particular way and thought “There’s no way I could do that” or “There’s no way I’d do it like that.” Don’t worry, sharing Jesus with others doesn’t have to be complicated or weird. A great place to start is sharing your story.
You don’t need to be an expert on the Bible or have a model of evangelism to share your story. You just have to share what Jesus has done in your life.
01 – Write down your story. Start by writing down your story. What are the things Jesus has done in your life? What are the moments that stand out to you? How has following Jesus impacted you? When did you decide to start following Jesus? What are some things that you might want to share with others?
02 – Practice your story. Practice sharing your story with a friend or someone in your community. You might want to try sharing your story in a safe and comfortable setting before you try it with others.
03 – Share your story. Throughout the week try to share your story or parts of your story with someone you interact with. This could be spontaneous, such as sharing your story with someone on the spot at work, a cafe, the gym, or when you're out somewhere with a friend. But more often than not it happens through intentionality. Is there someone you could have over for dinner, have coffee with, or get together with to share your story with them?
