Generosity 02: Sharing your faith | Discussion Guide

Debrief Last Week’s Practice (10 mins):

  1. How did last week's practice go?

  2. Did you learn anything new? Was it easy or difficult? Is this an area where it's easy to follow Jesus or more challenging for you?

Discussion (10 mins):

  1. Read this week’s practice together. What stands out to you?

  2. Read Mark 1:14-15. This is the gospel that Jesus preached. How is this different than how you’ve heard the gospel?

  3. Watch this Bible Project video. What stands out to you?

  4. What would it look like for you to begin to share the gospel with others?

Break into smaller groups and practice this together (30 mins):

  1. Define the gospel. As a group discuss what the gospel is. What is the good news?

    • The gospel of Jesus is the announcement that Jesus has come as king to save us from sin and renew his creation. The way Jesus brought his kingdom here and saves us from our sin is by triumphing over evil on the cross (Col. 2:15). His invitation for us is to “repent and believe” (Mk. 1:14-15). He doesn’t ask us to clean ourselves up and be good enough. He just asks us to reimagine life with him as king. In other words, he just asks us to follow him — to do life with him, to trust him, and to love him.

    • Read these verses and discuss how they help you understand what the gospel is:

  2. Decide how to share the gospel. What are some ways you could share the gospel? What would you say? How would you break it down for someone to understand? What would you invite them to?

  3. Declare the gospel. Give 3-5 minutes for each person to practice sharing the gospel with each other.

Debrief & Prayer (10 mins):

Come back together and debrief how it went in your group. Then spend some time praying for each other. Pray for opportunities to share your faith with others. Pray for people you want to share the gospel with.
